Ladies' Weekend Backpacking
Ladies, join us for an invigorating weekend in Afton State Park's backpacking campground! This is an opportunity to enjoy the wilderness just an hour away from the Twin Cities and get some experience with backpack camping. The trek into camp is a short 1.25 miles and the camping area sits atop the bluffs overlooking the beautiful St. Croix River.
We will provide all of the equipment and food. There is ample firewood provided for those great nighttime campfires and a water spigot nearby.
It’s a true wilderness experience such a short distance from the city! There are many miles of beautiful hiking trails, places to explore along the bluffs and a swimming beach (a bit of a hike from the camping area though).
This weekend will also be used as prep for those going on the Colorado backpacking trip. We will be able to test out some equipment, learn what clothing works best and how to cook in the wilderness.
Wild Hearts provides all of the equipment, food and guides. We can provide transportation for up to 12 people from our van leaving from the Burnsville, Minnesota area to Afton State Park or you can meet us there.
You will only be responsible for your clothing and a few personal items.

Responsibilities
- Setting up and tearing down camp.
- Cleaning up after meals.
- Carrying backpack with personal and group gear.
- Build up and encourage your teammates!
Restrictions
- Must be 16 years or older.
- Must be in reasonable physical condition to carry a backpack uphill about 1.5 miles
